12 Month Well Check

Page had her 12 month well check today. I put EMLA cream on prior to the appointment as I always do so Page won't feel the poke. However, she was not having it. She was so mad about having the dressings on her thighs. She refused to eat or nap & fussed for about 30 minutes. I took the cream off as it is suppose to make things easier for her. She cried more for the immunizations but recovered quickly. Hopefully, it goes better at 15 months. If only she could understand :) Anyhow, Page is doing great. She has gained 1.1lbs in the last 13 days thanks to the PediaSure!! She is hanging on the chart at the 4th percentile but is 30 inches now & at the 76th percentile for height. She is growing like crazy! We will do all we can to help her gain weight but she may just be a tall & skinny little lady :) Page's head circumference is 17.5 inches (27th percentile). She is doing great developmentally & Dr Valenzuela has no concerns. Page will have her next well check at 15 months & we will bring her in for a flu shot in the fall. Very thankful Page is a healthy little girl!!

PS...Page told the doctor "no" when she tried to listen to her. What an appropriate way to use the word for the first time ;) I'm sure she will be using it often over the next few years!

Some Birthday Fun...

After spending most of the day inside playing with all of Page's new toys, we decided to head out for some birthday fun. We took Page to the Superstition Springs Mall. Page went on the carousel, checked out the pet shop, & had some ice cream. It had been raining so we also enjoyed the cool weather. I think Page had a good 1st birthday :)

A Letter to Page on Her 1st Birthday

Dear Page,

You were loved & wanted long before you were conceived, yet we had no idea how much that love would grow. Somehow we love you more & more each day. You are a true blessing in our lives. We thank God daily for choosing us to be your parents.

We have learned so much from you over the last year & are in constant awe of the little person you are becoming.

We love so many things about you. You're such a happy, fun, active, silly, energetic, curious, playful, smart, loving, & independent baby! We love your laugh, the way you give hugs & kisses, the excitement on your face when you learn something new, the way you light up when you see your daddy, your beautiful blue eyes, the way you frown & how you look so serious when you're thinking just like your mama, how peaceful & innocent you look when you sleep, that you have long beautiful eye lashes just like your grandpa Kenny, your cute little teeth, that you're mommy's mini-me - always wanting to be with & do things just like her, your eagerness to learn & explore, how cute you are snuggling with your lovey, that you look so much like your daddy, the way you snuggle up against your mama when you nurse, how brave & resilient you are, your bald little Knutson head, the sound of you saying "dada" & "mum," & the way you kick your little legs when you're excited. These are just a few of the many things that make us adore you!

We love you more than words can say & are so proud to be your parents. Thank you for a year of wonderful memories & milestones. You have brought so much joy to our lives. We can't wait to see what God has in store for you!

Love Always,
Mommy & Daddy

The Birthday Girl...

Page had her 1st birthday party yesterday! We had a pool party & couldn't have asked for a better day. It was overcast which made for perfect pool time fun! Page had a blast spending the day with family & friends. A big thank you to everyone that helped us celebrate!

The birthday girl being silly in her new chair from mommy & daddy!

Page loved opening all of her presents. What a lucky girl!

The cake was a big hit! She loved blowing out the birthday candle!

We are spending today at home playing with all of Page's new toys! It doesn't get much better than this. Happy 1st Birthday Page! We love you so much!!

July...

This girl can eat.

Page loves to watch & play in the rain.

If she's not outside or in the pool, playing with the pool towels is the next best thing.

Page loves bath time. Lately, the bath tub is a favorite play space, with or without water. Last week she got her first shiner falling in the tub. I'm sure it won't be her last.

The kitchen sink is another favorite play space.

This baby loves to walk! Look at the excitement on that face :)

1 Year Old!

Miss Page is 1 year old today! Where does the time go?! It seems like it was yesterday that this little cutie came into our world.

Page has been a busy girl again this month. She is standing by herself for short periods & continues to work on her balance as she walks holding on to anything & everything. Her crawling days are numbered! Page has started pointing to things she wants & is doing a great job communicating. In addition to her non-verbal gestures, she signs "more" & says "hi" & "up." Page has been doing a great job eating solid foods. In fact, we are only seeing the feeding therapist for monthly check-ins! The therapist was impressed that she has come so far so quickly. Tooth #5 arrived last week & tooth #6 will be here soon. Page's little mouth has been hurting. We are thankful for teething rings & motrin! Page transitioned to cow milk, then transitioned to Pediasure, and is done breast feeding. Our baby is officially a toddler!

Page didn't want to cooperate during her monthly photo session. She wanted to play with her 12 month sticker instead. And so it begins...

No More Breast Feeding...

Page has weaned herself over the last few months. At 9 months, she decided she only wanted to breast feed before naps & at night. This month Page decided she would only breast feed in the middle of the night. When this started, we began to transition Page to whole cow milk & recently started to transition to PediaSure. This month Page would go to bed between 7-7:30 & then wake up between 3:30-4 to breast feed. Three days ago I decided to start offering Page a bottle when she woke up between 3:30-4. I didn't want to but thought it would be best for her to get as many calories as possible. The first two nights Page only drank 2.5oz of milk & then breast feed. Last night she drank the whole bottle & went right to sleep without breast feeding. It was a sad milestone for mommy. I have so enjoyed breast feeding my baby girl & will miss all the snuggle time. I feel so blessed to have had such a special experience over the last year. I write this blog post to always remember moments like these...

GI Appointment

Page had a GI appointment with Dr McOmber today. Page weighed 16lbs 4oz & she is back on the chart! However, she is still smaller than she should be for her height. Dr McOmber wants Page to get 800 calories a day. Her diet will include Pediasure & a high fat diet. We will follow up for a weight check in a month & see Dr McOmber again in 3 months. We are going to hold off on transitioning to a cup for now. Dr McOmber isn't opposed to Page participating in some physical activity which I am excited about. She is such a fun, active girl & I'm planning to sign her up for some activities in the fall. She will love the socialization!

On a related topic, Page decided a couple weeks ago that she is done breast feeding during the day. The last two weeks we have been slowly transitioning to whole cow milk. Page did great & has been drinking only cow milk out of her bottle for the past two days. She does breast feed once at night still. Ironically, I hope that continues for a while. It makes me a little sad that my baby is growing up. I suppose the transition to whole milk will make the transition to Pediasure easier. I hope :)

Happy 4th of July!!

This little lady is so busy, it was hard to take pictures today :)

A little glow stick fun...

Miss Page can stand up all by herself!

Enjoying the rain with daddy :)
