Miranda's Birthday, Allergy Test, CF Walk, & Salsa Challenge

Wednesday night Cole & I went to Bounce U in Mesa for Miranda's 4th Birthday Party. Miranda is my good friend Jessica's little girl. Bounce U has a whole bunch of bounce toys to jump & play in. It was nice to see friends & celebrate. Happy Birthday Miranda!

Struggling with Bronchitis, I had to do without Antihistamines for most of this week & I was miserable. I was allergy tested on Thursday, but surprisingly I did not test positive for anything. Dr. Keahey (she's married to one of the ED docs at PCH) thinks my allergy symptoms are triggered by common allergens (pollution, perfumes, smoke, etc) that they do not test for. In addition to my Asthma meds, she prescribed Astelin (an Antihistamine nasal spray) & Sinus Rinse (Saline Nasal Rinse) twice a day. The Sinus Rinse is not very pleasant, but it does seem to help with my allergy & sinus symptoms & it's all natural. Dr. Keahey also ordered blood work & sinus & chest x-rays to rule out all other possibilities. I should hear from her later this week. I am starting to feel better. So, hopefully this will do the trick. If not, next stop will be a pulmonologist.

Saturday was a busy day! I started off the morning walking in the GreatStrides Event benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Cole, my Mom, my step-dad Dave, & my little sister Sommer joined me. The 5K walk was at Kiwanis Park in Tempe. It was a beautiful day & lots of fun. It was nice to see so many people from work, their families, & so many others passionate about finding a cure for Cystic Fibrosis. My team, Team PCH, raised over $4,000! A special thank you to everyone who walked or donated!!!

Cole, Sommer, & I spent the afternoon at the Salsa Challenge at Tempe Town Lake. The Event benefits the Hemophilia Association. We were able to spend some time with Cole's parents at the Margarita Mix-Off Tent. There were quit a few people from work at the event & PCH had a Salsa Booth. We had a great time - you can't go wrong with Salsa! I just wish I would have remembered the sunscreen.

Sommer slept over last night. We all went to sleep early, after a busy but entertaining Saturday. This morning I enjoyed coffee with friends (Marsie & Joel, Erin & Shane, & Mindy & baby Kendall) at Starbucks & enjoyed a relaxing Sunday. My friend, Marsie, gave me some gel for my sunburn. It's called BURN FREE. It works great! Thank you Marsie!

Allergies!

This week my allergies seem to have taken over. It's funny how one can develop allergies...I never had them growing up. Over the last month, I have experienced typical allergy symptoms, but this week the drainage moved to my chest & I now have bronchitis. I saw my PCP on Thursday & I am now taking antibiotics & prednisone. On Friday, I saw an allergist. Apparently, to get allergy testing I need to be off antihistamines for 5 days. Who knew? I am scheduled for testing next Thursday. I am dreding the next 5 days, but hopful the allergy test will help me to get my allergies permanently undercontrol :) Last night was a rough night, but I am determined to not let my allergies control my life. Cole & I went to the Scottsdale Culinary Festival today. As many of you know, I love festivals! I am a huge food fan. The weather was perfect & as anticipated the food was delicious.

Starting a Blog

Cole & I purchased a new computer yesterday. We didn't realize how slow our old computer was until we started using the new one. I just love technology! Today is a rainy Arizona day (we don't get too many rainy days here in Arizona) so we are enjoying a quite day at home. I have been wanting to start a blog for a while, so today seemed to be the prefect day. I am hoping that this blog will help me keep in touch with family and friends.
